DETAILS

Honorable Prime Minister during his visit to Karachi on 12th August, 2017 announced Rs. 25 Billion development package for Karachi.

Accordingly, Prime Minister’s Office on 18th October, 2017 communicated approval of the Prime Minister for various schemes included in Karachi Package.

Planning Commission vide letter dated 10th November, 2017 have approved allocation of Rs. 8 billion in current Financial Year for Karachi Package.

The Prime Minister further approved that all schemes included in Karachi Package will be executed by Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited (KIDCL).

  • 5 Flyovers on Manghopir Road and Nishtar Road in Karachi
  • Traffic Management Interventions
  • Provision of Fire Tenders
  • Establishment of a 500 Bed Teaching Hospital, Medical and Dental College at University of Karachi
  • Storm Water Drainage / Sewerage
  • Combined Effluent Treatment Plant
  • Industrial Infrastructure Schemes
  • Improvement of Various Infrastructure and Services Schemes

Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System

Significant progress have been achieved on construction of Green Line BRTS corridor. The original scope of the project, allocated into 16 contract packages, is nearing completion as per committed timelines of April, 2018. Timely completion of Abdul Sattar Edhi Interchange (Board Office Interchange) is a symbol of commitment of KIDCL in delivering the first ever mass transit project to the people of Karachi. Further, extension of Green Line beyond Guru Mandir is underway in accordance with the change of design and scope recommended by Government of Sindh.
